Samantha A. Welch

Samantha A. Welch, 49, of Sullivan, Missouri passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – Sullivan.

Samantha Ann Welch was born June 15, 1972 in Madison, West Virginia, to Carlos Glenn and Lana Reda (Turner) Jarvis. She grew up and attended school in Wharton, WV, later graduating from Van High School, class of 1990. Shortly after graduation, she was blessed with two children, Carlos and Erica.

Samantha soon went to work as a florist at the Van Flower Shop, which was owned by her mother, Lana. She remained there for several years before going to work at the Sherman High School as a school secretary, and eventually transferred to Van High School. Samantha was loved by many students and a lot of them thought of her as a “second mother”.

Samantha and Earl Hoke had first met as kids, but they reunited in 2014 and blended their two families. Together they enjoyed going to Reds vs. Cardinals games at Busch Stadium, car shows, and four-wheeling. Samantha was a “Super Mom” who loved being with her family.

Samantha was very crafty and she even decorated for many dances and formals. She loved to host and was a good cook – she learned from her grandma, Juanita, and her mother, Lana. She also loved photography and sports. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her family and friends.

Samantha is survived by her boyfriend, Earl Hoke, of Sullivan, MO; her four children: Carlos Masingo and wife Ashley of Keyser, WV, Erica Welch of Washington, MO, Derek Hoke and wife Kayla of St. Clair, MO, and Jacob Hoke of Sullivan, MO; two grandchildren, Madilyn and Evie Hoke, both of St. Clair, MO; her parents, Carlos “Glenn” and Lana Jarvis of Wharton, WV; three brothers: Carlos Glenn Jarvis III and wife Angie of Madison, WV, Shane Jarvis and wife Tina of Morganton, NC, and Brian Jarvis and Bridgette Jarvis of Princeton, WV; nieces and nephews: Derick, CJ, Justin, Kari, Emily, Jessica, Brianna and BJ; as well as other extended relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Carlos and Juanita Jarvis; and her maternal grandparents, John and Reda Turner.

Cremation arrangements have taken place. Services will be held for Samantha at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV at 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m.
