A joyous reunion was held in Heaven when Sandy Vint entered through the pearly gates to join her husband, her daughter and many beloved family members. Here on earth there is much sadness and grief in the hearts of her children, her family and many dear friends.
Sandra Lee Hicks Vint, age 66, from Wharton was born on October 28, 1946. She went home to be with the Lord on August 12, 2013 after a courageous battle with a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbie Vint; a daughter, Ermal Gaye Price; her parents, Central and Ermal Hicks; two sisters, Christine Dickerson and Lucille McKenzie; and a brother, Andrew Hicks.
Those left behind to mourn her loss are a son, Ferris “Redbone” Price and his wife, Mary; a daughter, Sherry Honeycutt and her husband, Bobby; six grandchildren, Megan Browning, Dakota Price, Tyler Honeycutt, Logan Crouse and Makayla Honeycutt all from Wharton and Dean Moore from Danville; three great-grandchildren who called her “Momaw-the-Great”, Gavin and Ian Branham and Jalen Harris; sister, Sue Jarrell of Cross Lanes, WV; three brothers, Claude and Jerry Hicks both of Florida and Terry Hicks of Kentucky; and also many nieces and nephews and close friends who loved her dearly. Her faithful companion was her dog, Cedrick who stayed by her side till the end.
Redbone and Sherry want to say a special thank you to Sandy’s sisters-in-law, Kay Vance and Sharon White for the many hours they spent at their mom’s bedside.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Phil Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
