Scottie Ray Dent

Scottie Ray Dent, age 60, of Madison, WV was born June 20, 1962 and  passed away Friday, June 2, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his mother Joan Dent Ball; his nephew  Keith Alan Dent; and two very close friends Tony Ball and Keith Booth.

Scottie graduated from Scott High School in 1981. He worked numerous jobs throughout his life: TLE Support Manager at Walmart, Consolidated Steel in Ohio, manager at Gino’s,  Bonanza, Wendys, and McDonald’s. He was a jack of all trades doing lawn work for people and other odd jobs. He had a big heart and would do anything for anyone. He loved people and they loved him. He will be missed. 

He is survived by his daughters,  Scarlet Paige Dent (fiancé Phillip “Bubby” Jeffrey) of Mullins, SC and Chanté Noel (Willie) Abbott of Lake WV; 11 grandchildren, Cloie, Landon, Makayla, Gunner, Maddie, Aubrey, Brantley,  Willow, Eva, Ezra and Ian; and the mother of his daughters, Tricia McNeely.  He is also survived by his brothers and sisters,  Debbie Dent,  Alan Dent, Mike (Danita) Dent, Pam (Bill) Knight, Jeannie (Danny) Hale, and Clyne (Mary) Dent; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. 

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7 at Danville Memorial Park on Indian Grave Road, Danville, WV.  Handley Funeral Home in Danville is assisting the family.
