Seward Kuhn

June 15, 1932 — March 2, 2014

Seward Kuhn, 81, passed away March 2, 2014, in Rowlett, TX, from complications due to Alzheimers.

He was born in Van, WV on June 15, 1932 to the late Dewey and Lillie Kuhn. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Etsuko “Betty” Kuhn; sister, Theresa Frazier; and brothers, Jesse “Buddy” Kuhn and Archie “Don” Kuhn .
He is survived by his daughter, Nina Kuhn Creonte and husband, Tony, of Rowlett,TX; granddaughter, Ariana Creonte; sister, Sharon Evans of Kingsport, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

Seward proudly served his country. During his six years in the Army, he fought in the Korean War and participated in nuclear testing in the Marshall Islands. While stationed in Japan, he met his wife, Etsuko. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he enlisted in the Navy. He and Etsuko settled in Virginia Beach, VA. He served two tours in Vietnam and retired after 28 years of service. Upon retirement, he worked for ITT-Henze Movats in Norfolk, VA as a valve pump mechanic. In his free time, Seward enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching the Mountaineers, and spending time with his granddaughter. He’ll be missed dearly.

Visitation will be Friday, March 7, 2014 from 5 to 6 p.m. for family and 6 to 8 p.m. for friends.

Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Handley Funeral Home Chapel at Danville, WV, with the Rev. Phillip Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park at Madison, WV. Military graveside rites will be provided by VFW Daniel Boone Post 5578 Madison, WV.
