Sharrell Lovejoy

Sharrell Lovejoy, 91, of Hamlin, WV passed away December 27, 2013 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
Sharrell was born May 5, 1922 in Palermo, WV. His parents were Hobert and Elwa Lovejoy. He has one living sister Mary Lou Jones (husband Jerry). His other siblings, Bill Lovejoy, Jack Lovejoy, Tom Lovejoy, Anna Marie Hunt and Iva Dean Cook preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lillian Walker Lovejoy. Also surviving him are both his sons, David (wife Sharon) and Doug (wife Debbie). Sharrell has four grandchildren; David, Alan, Abby, Sarah and Rachel. In addition five great-grandchildren.
Sharrell served in the army infantry during WWII and was awarded a purple heart and bronze star. After the war, he returned to Lincoln County and established the Bobcat Restaurant in 1948.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Monday December 30, 2013 at Handley Funeral Home in Hamlin, WV with Bob Fulton and Jerry Duncan officiating. The burial will follow at Lovejoy Cemetery in Palermo, WV. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday December 29, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be offered to the following: Hamlin Methodist Church, Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
