Shelby Foley Jack 79 of Chapmanville,WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 24, 2016.
She was born November 16, 1936 at Blair WV. She was the daughter of the late Bernie Crum and Virgie Mae Chambers Crum.
She was a past member and elder of Clothier Presbyterian Church and a friend to everyone she met. Shelby also attended Calvary Baptist Church and First Church of Christ in Chapmanville, WV. She taught Sunday School for many years and served as Sunday School Superintendant. She loved to read, having read her Bible thru no less than seven times.
Shelby married Marvin J. Foley Sr. December 31, 1958. Marvin served in the U. S. Air Force and the couple traveled and lived in many locations throughout the U. S. and well as Italy. She was a Boy and Girl Scout leader. She had an extraordinary talent for sewing, baking, ceramics, cooking, cake decorating, gardening and crafts. She loved fishing, hunting and animals. She maintained a healthy lifestyle, walking, exercising and eating right; setting a good example for others to follow. She was a past Grand Noble and a member of Rebecka Lodge #99 in Madison, WV.
Shelby graduated from Sharples High School in 1955 and attended Southern WV Community College. She was first employed as a waitress at the Gibson Drive Inn at Blair, WV. She later worked at Sharples Coal and its affiliates.
After the passing of her husband Marvin, she later married James Jack of Tempe, AZ where the couple resided.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ora Lee (Buster) Crum.
Survivors include her son, Marvin J. Foley, Jr of Ottawa, WV; daughter, Cathy Lee Foley Nicholson of Chapmanville; three grandchildren, Tosh Miller of Chapmanville, Nathaniel Nicholson of Ashland, KY and Josh Nicholson of Portsmouth, OH; three great grandchildren, Ben, Liam an Claridy; four, nephews, Wayne Dials of Sharples, Eddie Lee Dials of Pond Fork, Michael Crum of Chardon, OH, and Tony Crum of Rome, OH; three nieces, Ava Gail Price of Minerals Wells, TX, Debbie Crum Rich of Burton, OH, and Denise (Cookie) Sharp of Chardon, OH.
The family would like to thank CAMC Memorial 5th Floor staff, Dignity Hospice caregivers, Mrs. Linda Adams and Connie Kirk, Pride, Inc. of Logan, brother, Bobby Edwards, Rev. Charles Ferguson, and the personal prayers for our family.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday Handley Funeral Home, Danville WV with Reverend Charles Ferguson of Clothier Presbyterian Church officiating, with special singing by Bobby Edwards. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Low Gap Rd. Madison. Pallbearers include Terry Anthony, Mike Hager, Johnny Curry, Rich Burgess, John Sizemore and Eddie Lee Dials.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
