Shirley Ann Hager

Shirley Ann Hager passed away on Saturday March 9, 2024 with her daughters and caregivers by her side. 

Shirley was born February 29, 1940 in Madison, WV the daughter of Gilbert and Nevada Smith of Ridgeview, WV, where she grew up with her brothers and sisters. She worked and owned Shirley’s (Pioneer Drive Inn) Drawdy, WV for 40+ years retiring in 2021.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Nevada Smith; daughter Mary Ann Withrow, grandsons Eddie Javins and Patrick Javins; and granddaughter Tiffany Sloan.

Shirley is survived by the love of her life Bill Griffith of Drawdy; her children Shirley Diane Mcneely (Larry), Connie Sue Harless (Fred), Zelda Mae Craig (Jimmy), Michael Lee Hager, and Rebecca Sue Bunting (Louie); grandchildren Perry Changes, Stephany Elkins, David Javins, Carrie Taylor, Brian Bragg, Tyler Craig, Baylea Craig, Michael Hager Jr, Becky Hager, Shamia Brown and Hannah Bunting; as well as 15 great grandchildren. 

The family wants to send a thank you to three special caregivers that allowed Shirley to remain home until her passing Alicia Hill, Jennifer Harper, and Sabrina Halstead.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2024 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Richard Harold officiating.  Burial will follow in Memory Gardens on Low Gap Road, Madison, WV.  

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
