Stephen Early Price

Stephen "Fatman" Early Price, 65, of Oak Hill, WV went home to be with his Savior on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 after a brief illness.

Stephen was born October 16, 1951 and was a son of the late, Clarence “Junior “ and Mary Ellen Price. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Pearl Price; and his maternal grandparents, Rass and Anna Miller.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and mighty man of God. He was a 1969 graduate from Van High School. Among his numerous roles, he was also a Vietnam veteran with the US Army, retired coal miner, and dedicated coach to many throughout the years. His warm and inviting personality earned him many friends far and wide. He was a member of Mountain View Church of God. The love he had for his family, church, and the Lord were very evident to all he encountered. He was an avid outdoorsman, sports enthusiast, and humble servant always eager to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife, Emily; children, sons, Stephen and Nancy Price of Wharton and Josh and Angie Price of Sophia; daughters, Sarah and Chris Hines of Pinch and Meghan and Mike Bennett of Oak Hill; 13 grandchildren, Cole Price, Caleb Price and Ava Price, Luke Vickers, Alexis Vickers, Chloe Vickers and Emma Vickers, Connor Gibson, Judah Price and Greenlea Price, Gracie Bennett, Sophie Bennett and Audrah Bennett; brothers, Jesse David “Buck” Price and Gary Dale “Butch” and Beverly Price; sisters, Pattie and Jeff Adkins of Bim and Claris and Gil Kuchl of Lockgelly; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Steve was a wonderful man who touched many lives. His family grieves his absence, but celebrates his graduation into eternal life. We lost a great man on earth, but Heaven gained a legend.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2017 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Rudell Bloomfield officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Madison with military graveside rites performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 of Madison, West Virginia.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
