Terry M. Adkins, 57, of Big Ugly Creek Road, WV passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the home of his long time love, Kathy Chapman due to complications from an automobile accident.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Gene Adkins of Big Ugly Creek Road and Maxie Hill of Lick Creek. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Mike Walker of North Fork.
Terry is survived by his son, Joshua Chapman of North Hills, California; and his soul mate and companion Kathy Chapman of Marmet; two aunts, Janette Bell of Big Ugly and Phyllis Walker of Huntsville, MO; four brothers, Bob and Cookie Adkins of Morrisvale, Bill and Shelia Adkins of North Fork, Charles and Annie Spears of Rock Creek and Brad and Della Hill of Lick Creek; four sisters, Sherry and Keith Loftis of Big Ugly Creek Road, Robin and Frank Noe of Big Ugly Creek, Candy Dingess of Madison and Jackie Hanna of Six Mile. Terry is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who will miss him dearly.
Terry will be remembered for all of his many talents including: sportsman, hunter, fisherman, nature lover, chef, story teller, artist, prankster, good neighbor and good friend to name a few. For all those who will miss and remember him, please take a few minutes to enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer. Take a walk, watch a bird or just enjoy the sunlight and fresh air in his memory.
He was a coal miner and an Army veteran. He was an organ donor for Core.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 28 at Handley Funeral Home with a graveside service at 1 p.m. Friday, March 29 at Family Gardens, Madison with Richard Runyan officiating. Military rites will be performed by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578 Madison, West Virginia.
After the graveside service the family will be receiving guests at the home of Janet and Grady Hayner, Big Ugly Road.
