Terry Lee Phillips

Terry Lee Phillips, Sr., 70, of 160 Madison Ave, Madison, WV, passed away August 16, 2014 after a long illness.
He was born December 4, 1943 in Logan County, WV and was a son of the late August Paul Phillips and Mary Ann Burke Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Rose Ellis; and his brother, August Eugene Phillips.
He retired in 1999 from Sharples Coal Corporation as a Preparation Plant Foreman and was a member of the UMWA. In his retirement years, he filled his time with his family and friends as well as wood working and WV sporting events. He was a dedicated citizen of the local community, with the Moose Lodge being his main focus. He was a long time member of the Madison Moose Lodge #2130 and held the governor position from 2010 to 2014. He was inducted into the Moose 25 Club and will be receiving the prestigious Moose Fellowship award posthumously. Each year he looked forward to the Annual Moose Lodge Easter Egg Hunt, at which dozens of donated bikes were given away to children in the community.
He is survived by his former wife, Dana Phillips of Mooresville, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Lynette Phillips of Shady Spring, WV; daughter and son-in-law, Christa and Joe Zammit of Greensboro, NC: three grandchildren, Whitney Zammit of Los Angeles, CA, Christopher Zammit of Greensboro, NC and Daniel Lee Phillips of Pippa Passes, KY; one brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Lynn Phillips of Sevierville, TN; sister-in-law Cheryl Phillips of Lake, WV; brother-in-law, Roger Ellis of Lake, WV; Uncle and aunt, Andy and Emma Lou Phillips of Madison, WV; and many nieces and nephews as well as countless friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be conducted at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV on Thursday, August 21 at 2pm. Joe Lane will officiate and a burial will follow in Boone Memorial Park, Madison, WV with a reception following at Madison United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 20 from 6-8pm at Handley Funeral Home.
