Thelma Jean Osborne

Thelma Jean Osborne, 75, of Johnson City, TN, originally from Twilight, WV passed away Monday, October 9, 2023.

She was born July 17, 1948 and was a daughter of the late Hersey and Delcie Mae Osborne.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by; grandparents, Thelma and Neal Osborne and Ester and Lomer Cook; siblings, Oral Osborne, Rocky Osborne, Carolyn Smith, Terry Osborne, and Kathy Wood; children, Samson Osborne, and Delilah Buckner; grandson, Donnie Barker III; son in law William Gould and loving dog, Nay Nay.

Thelma loved watching Gunsmoke.  Her favorite movie was Lonesome Dove, and her favorite color was blue.  She was always there to love and help with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, while missing the ones who weren’t there at the time, but always loving and praying for each of us.  She always put God first.

She is survived by her son, James Allen Hawker of Uneeda, WV; her daughters, Delcie Maria Gould of Racine, WV, Debbie Lynn Payne of Julian, WV and her loving dog, Phe Phe; sisters, Sharon Elizabeth Osborne of Sherwood, AR, Sheilah Elaine Green of Van, WV, Mary Ann Osborne of Comfort, WV and Rebecca Mae Osborne of Cleveland, OH; brothers, James Lomer Osborne of Morganton, NC, Phillip Dwayne Osborne of Little Rock, AR and Hersey Taylor Osborne of Seth, WV; grandchildren, Brandon Micheal Osborne, Coty Dalton Osborne, Dylan Alexander Buckner, Nicholas Hawker, Isaiah Hawker, Jason and Breanna Smith, Joshua and Emily Leatherman, Alyssa and Brandon Keeney, and Hunter Dale Payne; and great grandchildren, Mason James Hager, Asher Cole Hager, Ariella Rose Smith, Sophia Grace Leatherman, and Quinnlee Jovi Saige Keeney.

Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 17 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Phil Rowe officiating.  Burial will follow in Osborne Cemetery, Williams Mountain, WV.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, October 16 at the funeral home.
