Therman Ray Caudill, 85, of Yawkey went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 30, 2012 after complications from surgery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lydia Caudill; brothers, Herman and John Jr.; and his sister, Flarce.
Therman was a retired school teacher from Lincoln County having taught for 42 years. He was a 1962 graduate from Morris Harvey College. He started teaching in a one room school in Boone County. After teaching at Berry's Branch and Woodville he retired from Martin Elementary in 1988. He loved being in the woods, especially digging ginseng. He was born and lived most of his life at Mud River. He attended Faith Baptist Church of Spurlockville.
He is survived by his wife of 62 ½ years, Lorene Caudill; son, Gary (Carolyn) of Alkol; daughters, Anita (Stanley) Miller of Alkol, Kathy (Scott) Wakefield of Huntington and Renae Caudill of Chester, SC; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, Misty, Kristy, Kimberly, Amy and Adam.; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy (Monzella) Caudill of Millwood, WV; sisters, Edith Kitchen of Punta Gorda, Florida, Rose Thompson of Madison, Gaye Chandler of Channahon, Illinois, Lucille (Leon) Miller of Ripley and Janice Price of Ridgeview; and many friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 3 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Pastor Bill Meadows and Doug Walls officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
