Tommy G. "Cat" Jones

May 13, 1943 — June 1, 2015

Tommy Glenn (Cat) Jones, 72, of Alkol WV went home to be with the Lord after a long battle of illness on Monday, June 1, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Opal Jones; his sister, Louis Ann Jones; his brothers, Howell Jones, Douglas (Doug) Jones, Charlie (Fatty) Jones and Johnny Jones.

He was a member of the UMWA and Local #781.

Tommy (Cat) worked as a coal miner for 37 plus years. He was an amazing husband that lived everyday of his life for his wife Bonnie, who was the love of his life. Tommy was a loving and giving father that loved spending quality time with his daughters, but most of all he was a proud Papaw that loved his granddaughter more than life itself. He was so proud of her. Tommy was a member of the Griffithsville Masonic Lodge #71 and Odd Fellows of Madison #170. Tommy’s favorite past times through the years were hunting and fishing with his brothers and brothers in law, riding in the hills with his buddies and most of all watching his granddaughter MaKenzie play basketball. He loved her with his whole heart. Tommy was also a member of Morrisvale Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his church family unconditionally.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years Bonnie Ruth Jones; his two daughters, Tonya and Bobby Renner (Ryan & Reed) of Madison and Tara Jones and Jeff Honeycutt (Nevin, Ryan and Chad) of Madison; granddaughter, MaKenzie White of Madison; sisters, Lyda and Weldon Barker of Foster and Peggy and Gary Setser of Wharton, WV; brothers, Paul & Sharon Jones of Alkol and Roger and Donna Jones of Danville; and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV with David Cook and Phil Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in Mid-Ferrell Cemetery, Bandytown, WV.

Friends may call 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
