Tommy (Buddy) Sutphin 79 of Bigson, WV was peacefully carried into the presence of God, Friday, September 17, 2021 surrounded by family singing him home after a short illness. He was born Sunday, July 25, 1942 in Madison, WV to the late Raymond and Julia Hill Sutphin.
In addition to his parents, his wife Shirley, brothers, Lowell, Rodney and David, sisters, Deloris Sutphin and Diana Sutphin Hill and one stepson Bill Gould preceded him in death.
Family left behind to cherish his memory are his sisters, Christina Gunnoe of Bigson whom cared for him in his later years and Nancy King of Madison; brothers, Jerry ( Barbara) and Russell (Rhonda) of Bigson; children, William of Charleston, Pam (Eddie) Bias of Bigson and Penny (Ralph) Kinder of Ridgeview; stepchildren, Ricky Gunnoe, David Boothe, Donna Roe and Dianna Deal. He had several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of family and friends; he also leaves behind a special step great grandson Zack of whom he dearly loved.
Buddy was an active member of Van-Bigson FWB Church. He left behind a great testimony of which leaves no doubt that he is resting in the presence of God. He enjoyed singing for the Lord.
When he was able, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and he loved to ginseng all of which he had great patience with. Buddy was a humble person and loved to joke and cause people to laugh even if the joke was on him.
Service will be Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Van-Bigson FWB Church with Rev. Danny Gilfilen officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park, Indian Grave Road, Danville, WV.
Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to service time at the church.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Rev. Jeff Mosteller for having prayer before and after Buddy’s passing, for staying singing with the family during this time.
