Tony Harshbarger, 63, of Lake, West Virginia passed away on December 8, 2022 at Hubbard House Hospice in Charleston, WV.
He was a proud graduate of Van High School in 1977 and Southern West Virginia Community College where he earned a degree in accounting. He served in the U.S. Army from 1981 to 1984 and was especially proud of his service with the Big Red One. He was employed as an accountant with HealthSmart Benefit Solutions from 1994 to present. Tony held leadership positions in several organizations. He was the owner/operator of RPMX Motorsports; owner of Tony’s Tax Service, and President of Moose Lodge 2130. He was also involved with the WV Alumni Association. His passion and legacy was his work with the Secret Santa Foundation from 2008 to present. Tony’s favorite quote was “It’s all about the kids!”
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Janice Harshbarger; sister Carol Halstead; and parents-in-law Leon and Jean Berry.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Valda (Berry) and fur babies Fred and Molly of Lake, WV; brother Tim (Tina) Harshbarger of Clinton Camp; sister Amy (David) Price of Jeffrey; brothers-in-law Dan (Penny) Berry of Hueytown, Alabama and Gary (Mildred) Berry of Salt Rock, WV; as well as many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank Family Nurse Practitioner Debbie Townsley of Boone Memorial; Dr. Tara Hansen and Dr. Narender Jogenpally of Thomas Memorial; Dr. Yasmin Waris and Dr. Bassam Moushmoush of CAMC; the doctors and nurses of UPMC Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, PA; and the doctors and nurses of Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. The family is especially grateful for the care and attention Tony received from the doctors, nurses, and aides of Hubbard House Hospice in Charleston, WV. And a special thanks to his sister Amy Price and special friends Judy and Jimmy Adkins of Lake, WV for their help and support.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 7:00pm Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV. Friends may visit with the family before the service from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
