Troy Miller, 89, of West Madison passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024.
He was born May 28, 1935 to the late Amos and Gladys Miller. he was also preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline Miller; sisters Jane Barker and Freda Hager; brother Malloy Miller.
Troy worked several jobs. He worked at one in Summersville, WV for a few months, one in Michigan, working on boats, for a few months, but came and went to work for Riverside Motor Company's body shop as an auto body repair man, where he worked for several years. He quit Riverside's to go to work in the mines for Westmoreland Coal Company as a coal truck driver. He later opened his own body shop at his house, working until it was time for his shift in the evening at the mines. He later was laid off from the mines and went to work at Guyan Machinery and worked for 10 years then was laid off again. He continued to work in his own shop, until he decided to close it then worked for Jimmy Price at The Body Shop in Madison till he was around the age of 70 and retired. After retirement, he raised a garden every year until about a year and half ago when he started having trouble walking.
He is survived by his daughters, Vicky Miller and Laura Dotson and husband Jeff; one grandson, Jeffrey Dotson and wife Loren Dotson; sisters, Edaniah Lerzo of Madison, Sylvia Suthard of New Jersey, Marie Dingess of Danville, Bonnie Hughes of Danville, and Belinda Drew of Tennessee; and brother, Phillip Miller of Turtle Creek.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 11 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Pastor Joseph Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Pauley Cemetery at Turtle Creek, WV.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
