Ventrue Mitchell, 88 of Madison passed away December 2, 2018.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Mitchell; mother, Clerey Adkins; father, John Mitchell; son, Danny Ray Mitchell; daughter, Wilma Haire; son, Roger Starkey; granddaughter, Kimberlie Ellison; and grandson, Craig Haire.
Ventrue was a loving man who treasured his family and always put other people before himself. He retired from the mines to start Mitchell’s Tire Shop and later Mitchell’s Rentals. He was a man that loved his community and giving back. He loved to travel and especially out West. He was tremendously loved by his family and will be missed by all that knew and loved him. A great comfort is felt by knowing he is reunited with his loving wife and family that left before him.
He is survived by his sons, Freddie (Patricia) Starkey and Larry (Loretta) Starkey; daughter, Phyllis (James) Riffe; grandchildren, Crissey Ryan, Julie Smith, LeaAnn Vanhoose, Brian Starkey, Mickey Starkey, Lori Tomes, Ricky Starkey, and Jon Starkey; and honorary son, Joe Woodzell.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 5 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with Johnny Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Family Gardens, Madison.
