Victor R. Jarrell, 88, passed from this life on August 26, 2023. Formerly of Boone County, he was the son of Carmel and Mabel (Ball) Jarrell of Price Hill. He was married to his childhood sweetheart, Linda Lou (Meadows) Jarrell for 64 years before she passed in 2019. He was the father of two children: Michael Lee Jarrell of St. Augustine, Florida and Dedra Cheryl Goff of Indianapolis, Indiana.
He graduated from Scott High School in 1954. He worked on the construction of the atomic plant at Piketon, Ohio for 2 years. Moved to Chicago and worked as a supervisor for the Electran Manufacturing Company for 4 years. Then he went to Huntington Barber College and set up shop in St. Albans for 10 years. He sold Vic’s Barber Shop and went to Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock, TX in 1968.
As a minister for the Churches of Christ, he served congregations in Ropesville,TX; Alum Creek and Hurricane, WV. In Florida, he ministered in Lake Worth, Palm Beach Gardens, Dunnellon, and Ocala. He preached in Gallipolis, Ohio as well. He held gospel meetings in Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia as well as did mission work in India, Africa, and the Virgin Islands.
He has five grandchildren: Jonathan and Isabella Jarrell; Alexandra, Patrick, and Madelyn Goff.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Carlton, Ralph, and Clell and one sister, Arbutus Pauley.
He was a lifelong democrat and a Cleveland Brown fan.
Visitation will be held at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV on Friday, September 1, 2023 at 12:30 - 1:30p.m. with graveside services following at Memory Gardens on Low Gap Road, Madison, WV.
