Virgil Ed Neace, 78, of Kiahsville, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Ed was born August 15, 1944 to the late John Henry and Emma Hicks Neace. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his Leva “Sissy” Wiley Neace; one daughter, Kathy Lynnl; brothers, Jerry Lee, Chester Warren, Taylor Ray, William Haskel, Darrel, and Bernie Neace; four sisters, Dora Bell Neace, Alma Snead, Eula “Gene Claire”, and Ruth Lola Potts.
He is survived by one daughter Nicole (Bill) Rickman of Louisa, Ky; two sons, Eddie Shane, and Clifford Jason Neace both of Kiahsville, WV; one grandson Luke Alan Rickman of Louisa, Ky; one sister, Betty Marcum of Wayne, WV; three brothers, Thomas (Violet) Neace and Ernest Neace both of Ranger, WV, and Hercel “Cotton” Neace of Finley Park, Ill. He was a special papaw to Miranda “Kruk” Honeycutt.
Ed served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Mildred Mitchum Bateman Hospital in 2002. He loved spending his free time hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an avid beekeeper and an active member of the Wayne & Lincoln Bee association. He was also a member of the East Fork Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2023 at Montana Freewill Baptist Church, Ranger, WV with Ernest Vance, Ernest Neace and Bennie Dean officiating. Military Rites by VFW Post 6153, Chapmanville, WV. Burial will follow at Peaceful Mountain Cemetery, Ranger, WV. Visitation will be from 6pm to 9pm Sunday at the church. McGhee-Handley Funeral Home is assisting the family.
