Virgil Lee Stewart, 83, of Barrett, WV, was born August 25, 1935 and went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Goldie (Camp) Stewart of Cabin Creek, WV; brother James Stewart of Cabin Creek, brother Frank Stewart of Giles, WV, and brother Richard Stewart of Cabin Creek, WV.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty (Lee) Stewart; daughter Charleen (Philip Sr.) Pridemore of Gordon, WV; daughter Pamela (Clarence) Kinder of Dunbar, WV; daughter Sheryl (Michael Sr.) Hunter of Madison, WV; grandson Philip (Stacy) Pridemore of Southside, WV; grandson Howard Pridemore of Fairmont, WV; grandson Michael Hunter, Jr. of Huntington, WV; grandson Joshua Hunter of Madison, WV; great grandson Grayson Pridemore of Southside, WV; great grandson Cole Pridemore of Southside, WV; and a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was a retired coal miner. He was an original member of the Wharton-Barrett Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Lion’s Club for many years. He was also a member of the Barrett Church of the Nazarene since approximately 1988 and loved serving the Lord. One of his ministries included operating a food pantry out of the church for those in need for 35 years.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Barrett Church of the Nazarene in Wharton, WV, with Paul Brown officiating. The burial will follow at Danville Memorial Park, Danville, WV. A visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.
