Virginia Bertha Bledsoe of Danville, WV passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Boone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danville, WV. She was 91 years young.
Virginia was born on July 11, 1922 at Maces Springs, VA and was the oldest of ten children. Her parents were the late Mattie Lou Cindy Larkey and Charles Conley Salyers which raised their children in Hiltons, VA. Virginia lived for many years in Barnabus, WV (Logan County) with her husband, Walter Beldsoe until his death in 1987 where they raised their five children together. Virginia was a loving mother and home maker.
She is survived by daughters, Ginger Green (Harold) of Foster, WV and Patty St. Lawrence (Joe) of Franklin, TN; sons, Clyde Bledsoe of Omar, WV, Larry Bledsoe (Shelia) of McConnell, WV and Charles Bledsoe (Cathy) of Lynnville, TN; sister, Mary Ann Olinger of Mount Carmel, TN; brothers, Fred Salyers of Wheelersburg, Ohio and Carl Salyers of Hiltons, VA. She had 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter Bledsoe, granddaughter, Dawn Ann Bryant of Franklin, TN; sisters, Nadine Robinette of Hickory, NC; brothers, Walmer Salyers of Chesapeake, VA, Harold Salyers of Mount Carmel, TN, infant brother, James Salyers of Sigma, VA, Don Salyers of Zenia, Ohio, Charles Salyers of Churchhill, TN; and daughter-in-law, Lucy Bledsoe of Omar, WV.
Prior to her passing Virginia was cared for at the Boone Nursing and Rehab Center for four years. Prior to that, she lived with her daughter Ginger Green (Harold) at Foster, WV for many years.
The family would like to thank the staff of Boone Nursing, especially Regina Akers (CNA) who took “special” care of our Mother. We would also like to express our gratitude to Jennifer with Hospice of Charleston, WV.
Virginia was a Christian of Protestant faith.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Tom Beckette officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Godby Heights, Logan, WV.
