Virginia Maxine (Cogar) Miller, entered into eternal life on June 6 at the age of 98. Virginia was born on October 11, 1924. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother (mawmaw), great grandmother and the matriarch of our family.
Virginia, Ginny to most, lived at Wharton, WV, from 1955 to when her health started to fail. She then moved to Fredericksburg, VA to live with her daughter, Sharon. She was very passionate about the Church of Christ. She was a member of Bim, Church of Christ and later when her health allowed, she attended the Uneeda, Church of Christ. In her younger years she enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and yodeling. She was very talented. She was stubborn, feisty, and strong willed. She had eleven siblings that preceded her in death, she is the end of her era.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Emil (Buggs) Miller, Sr., daughter, Patsy Diane Dickerson, son-in-law James Dickerson, daughter-in-law Donna Smith, father, Fred C. Cogar and mother, Minnie Jane (Arthur) Cogar, six brothers and five sisters. grandson, Craig Matthew Sitton, great grandson, Bradley Warfied, and great granddaughter Bobbie Jean. She is survived by sons, Oris Gene Smith of Painesville, Ohio and Emil (Little Buggs) Miller, Jr (Carolyn) of Euclid, Ohio. Daughter, Sharon Johnson (Aaron) of Fredericksburg, VA. 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren
Viewing will start 12:30pm on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, WV. Funeral services with be at 2:00pm with minister Mel Gresham officiating. Burial to follow in Family Garden Cemetery on Low Gap Road, Madison, WV.
