January 28, 1964 — March 9, 2025

Vonda Jean Asbury, 61, of Danville, WV, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with COPD. She was born on January 28, 1964, and preceded in death by her parents, David L. and Ruth Boggs, as well as her devoted husband of 24 years, Curtis Asbury.

She was a 1982 graduate from Scott High School and held several jobs, but her favorite job was being a homemaker. Vonda was known for her impeccable sense of style and dedication to maintaining a warm and beautifully kept home. She took immense pride in celebrating holidays to the fullest, creating cherished memories for those around her. Vonda was always up for a shopping trip. She enjoyed shopping for her home, herself and for others. She was rarely seen without her hair perfectly styled and makeup flawlessly applied. Vonda carried herself with grace and an undeniable presence.

She is survived by her stepdaughter Cindy & David Ball, and stepson, Curtis Asbury II, both of whom she treated as her own. She was a proud grandmother to Nicholas Ball (Tori), AbiGail Moore (Sam), Carson Asbury, Jackson Asbury, Gunner Asbury, and Parker Asbury. She also leaves behind her great-granddaughter, Nora Rose Ball, who brought her immense joy and love.

Vonda is also survived by her brothers, Ricky & Diane Boggs and David Boggs, Jr. She leaves behind sisters-in-law, Connie Dean and Debbie Waters, as well as her brother-in-law & sister-in-law Jimbo and Becky Asbury. She is also survived by her uncles, Terry Jarrell and Gary Jarrell, and her aunt, Betty White. Vonda loved and adored her family, including her many nieces and nephews, all of whom she cherished deeply.

Vonda and her husband, Curtis, shared a love for travel and adventure. Together, they explored the world, creating unforgettable memories in destinations such as Australia, Hawaii, Vail Colorado, Las Vegas, and numerous other breathtaking places. Their journeys were a testament to their love for life and each other.

Above all, Vonda had a giving heart. She had a great love for animals. She fed and cared for several dogs in her community. She loved to laugh and hear funny stories and facetime with her grandchildren. She embodied kindness and generosity in every way.

Vonda was a Christian and attended Six Mile United Methodist Church.

Her legacy of love, faith, and selflessness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. While she has left this world, the warmth of her spirit and the beauty she brought into the lives of others will live on forever.

The family wishes to thank Vonda’s devoted caregivers Kristin McCallister and Kristin Billups for their amazing compassion, love and care through her recent health decline and extend a heartfelt thank you to Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville.
