Never a stranger did he meet. He reached out with a hardy handshake, a genuine greeting and a great big smile, leaving you with the same, knowing that he was a friend for life.
Wallace E. “Wally” Bower, II loved the Lord with all his heart, and on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 passed from this life, going on to the Heavenly home he longed for. He spent many hours reading his Bible and was very dedicated to doing so. Talking with people about the Lord always gave him great joy. He graduated from Scott High School in 1962, joined the US Navy and spent the next four years traveling the world, most of which on the USS Waccamaw. He spoke of those years often.
He spent several years in the sale of mining equipment and supplies, then becoming manager at Service Pump and Supply in Danville where he retired after 16 years. West Madison Baptist Church was like a second home to him and he served as a Trustee for several years there.
Wally was a former Madison Volunteer Firefighter, a lifetime VFW member as well as the American Legion, Lion’s Club member for many years, and served as the Madison Civic Center manager for several years.
As well as his parents, Wally was preceded in death by a brother, David Bower. Bower, III (Tracy) of Kenova, WV; two daughters, Connie Lynn Hissom and Allison Jane Bower, both of Sevierville, TN; and two step-sons, Jason Martin (wife Nikki) of Coal City, WV and Jeff Martin (wife Season) of Morgantown, WV.
