Rev. Ward L. McCoy of Ranger, WV departed this life February 7, 2014 at his home with family and Dignity Hospice of Chapmanville at his side.
Rev. McCoy was an ordained minister of the Bethlehem Association of United Baptist Churches for 61 years, ordained on May 9, 1952. He was a member of the Upper Ten Mile United Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Leonard and Leza McCoy of Ranger; three brothers Cash, Willard and Kermit McCoy; three sisters Arange McCoy, Easter Sanders and Thelma Manns; and a son-in-law Earl Baisden.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Lucille; son Michael (Mary) McCoy of Verdunville; daughter Brenda Baisden of Verdunville; two grandsons Micah (Becky) McCoy of Verdunville and Marcus (Britneigh) McCoy of Lake; two granddaughters Dawna (Shawn) McGee of Elyria, Ohio and Kimberly Baisden of Verdunville; nine great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren; one brother Earnest (Elsa) McCoy of Ypsilanti, Michigan; one sister Stella Miller of Salt Rock and many nieces and nephews, friends and his church family of the Upper Ten Mile United Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday February 11, 2014 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Rev. Tim Davis officiating. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Burial will follow at Sanders Cemetery in Ranger, WV. The viewing will be 6 to 8 Monday at the funeral home.
