William "Bill" Clarke Handley
November 21, 1946 — February 20, 2017
William Clarke “Bill” Handley, 70, of Huntington, left this life for his eternal heavenly home on Monday February 20, 2017. William was born November 21, 1946, the son of the late Lee and Nina Lee Handley.
He was a strong but loving presence for his wife of 48 years, Sherry Sanders Handley. William is preceded in death by and infant son, Jeffrey Ray Handley. William is also survived by one son, William (Tracey) Handley Jr. “BJ”. He is also survived by one sister, Mary (Harris) Shirakawa, Cocoa Beach, Fl.; two brothers, John (Judy) Handley, Pliny, WV and Paul Handley, Pliny, WV. William is also survived by three precious granddaughters, Savannah, Georgia and Macon Handley. Bill leaves behind many friends, loving sisters and brothers in Christ as a Deacon at Good Shepherd Freewill Baptist Church, Huntington, WV. Bill was a retired teacher from the Russell Independent School System, Russell, Ky. He presently worked, as needed, for a long time friend, JD DeLapa, owner, Cardio Vascular Imaging Services, South Point, OH.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday February 24, 2017 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Pastors George Leese and Lonnie Berry officiating. The burial will follow in the Dial Cemetery, Branchland, WV. A Masonic funeral will also be observed.
A visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm Thursday at the funeral home.
