William R. “Bill” Collins, 80, of Foster, WV, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born November 7, 1936 at Holden, WV, a son of the late John Henry and Lyla Bartoe Collins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his six sisters, Florence Mullins, Susie Neece, Opal Perry, Lahoma Crum, Virginia Williams and Mary Johnson.
Mr. Collins was a retired conductor of CSX Transportation and a fifty-year member of the United Transportation Union. He also served in the United States Army Corps National Guard, graduated from Liberty Home Bible Institute, and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Danville, WV.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lana Collins; two daughters, Angie (David) Loggins of Verdunville and Lesley (Mark) Kimler of Foster; four grandchildren, Dr. Whitney Loggins of Charleston, WV, Suzanna Loggins of Verdunville, WV, and Willie Mike Kimler and Wesley Kimler both of Foster, WV; and three brothers, James Henry of Wilkinson, WV, Paul Frederick of Mount Gay, WV, and John David of Holden, WV; and all the many special nieces and nephews that he loved dearly .
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 24 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Johnny Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Pecks Mill, WV.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
