The loving Rev. William T. Hughes, Jr., 85, of West Hamlin, WV, went through the Pearly White Gates of Heaven Sunday October 18, 2015 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV.

He was born on October 10, 1930 in West Hamlin, WV a son of the late Mamie and William T. Hughes Sr. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Arelena Hughes and a special granddaughter, Samantha Burns. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and retired from the C & O Railroad as an equipment operator. In 1967 he was initiated into the Masonic Lodge. He became an ordained minister in 1976 and pastored Center Point Baptist Church for over 27 years. Preceding in death one brother: Bobby Hughes; three sisters Willa Jean Petry, Billie Stickler, and Dovie Hughes.

Surviving are two sisters: Nona (Darrell) Morrison and Christine Morrison; two sons, Barry Hughes, Roddy (Beth) Hughes; three daughters: Tammy (Roger) Adkins, Kandi (John) Burns, and Missy (Sonny) Jeffers; grandchildren: Tommy (Misty) Adkins, Ginger (Terry) Toler, Justin Adkins and Logan Conrad, Wesley Burns, Madison Jeffers, McKenzie Jeffers, Ty Midkiff, and Alley Midkiff: five great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Thursday, October 22, 2015 at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, WV with Farrris Burton, Sr. and Russell "Buck" Adkins officiating. The burial will be in Fairview Memory Gardens, Hamlin, WV where a military graveside service will be conducted. Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A special THANK YOU to Dr. Terrance Triplett and Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House and Staff for their wonderful care.
