William “Billy” Smutko, 91 of Mifflin, WV passed away peacefully at home Thursday, July 5, 2018.
Billy was born November 8, 1926, a first generation American, born to Hungarian immigrant parents. He was a proud lifelong resident of Mifflin, WV. He was an Army veteran and served his country during WWII. He was a carpenter for all and a construction worker for Hobet Mining in Sharples.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ambrose and Suzi; his wife of 46 years, Adena Nelson; brothers and sisters, Ambrose, Jimmy, Stevie, Rosie, Helen, and Irene; and granddaughter, Sonya D. Smutko.
He will be missed by his sister, Margaret Gaye Kerosky of Cleveland, Ohio; children, Billy Ray (Ella) Smutko of Mifflin, Dorene (Stewart) Lockard of Mifflin, Charles (Renee) Smutko of Mifflin, Dennis (Angie) Smutko of Clinton, NC and Kathy (North) Johnson of Mifflin; grandchildren, Billy A. (Mariah), Michael (Sarah), Jacob, Joey, David (Ann), Justin (Sarah), Andrew (Jackie), Carl, Beth (Garrett), Steven, Jordan, Brian (Nakachia), Christopher, Matthew (Catherine), Zach, Daniel, Shane and Dakota; and great-grandchildren, Zoey, Vincent, Aiden, Kerrigan, Sammy, Addison, Jayden, Paxton, Mason, Eli, Ellie, Jackson and Lilly. He will also be missed by a very special niece, Rhonda (Derrick) Bradley and nephew Ronnie (Dee Dee) Lyles; and many, many other nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8th at Family Gardens, Madison, WV with Jeff Mosteller officiating.
Friends may visit with the family at Billy’s home after the service.
