Willis Ralph Workman, 82, of Six Mile, passed away February 1, 2015 at CAMC Memorial Hospital surrounded by family.
He was born August 21, 1932 to the late Winfred and Dorotha Workman. He graduated from Scott High School in 1951. Ralph was an army veteran, serving during the Korean conflict. He began his career working at A.C. Griffith and Son and retired from the coal mines after working over 25 years. He was a member of the Six Mile United Methodist Church. He also worked at Handley Funeral Home during his retirement years. He enjoyed car races and family vacations at Myrtle Beach. He was a member of Six Mile United Methodist Church, Six Mile
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Ralph Jr.; brother, Kenneth Workman; grandparents, Charles and Araminta Workman and Rev. Charles and Emma Spencer; brother-in-law, James Green; and sister-in-law, Nellie Cales.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, JoAnn Bonds Workman; daughters, Lisa and her husband Roy Estep, and Cathy Jo Workman both of Six Mile; grandchildren, Catherine and her husband Adam Carnefix of Elkview, Joanna Estep and Shelia Harper of Charleston, and Ralph Estep of Six Mile; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Rylann Carnefix of Elkview. He is also survived by a brother, Larry (Lois) Workman of Six Mile; sisters, Dorthea Green, Elyana (Dana) Ferrell, Marion Workman, and Cornelia (Leonard) Bolton all of Six Mile; brother-in-law, Jerry (Connie) Bonds, also of Six Mile, sister-in-law Linda Workman, of Baltimore, Ohio, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5 at Six Mile United Methodist Church, Six Mile with the Rev. Roger McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in Workman Family Cemetery, Six Mile.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 4 at the church starting at 6:00 p.m.
